Welcome to Bobriwka!
A brief Description and History.
Bobriwka Inc. was established in 1955 to "Promote and Educate Ukrainian-American Culture, Scouting, Camping and Recreation".
It is a campground facility comprised of approximately 350 acres. Roughly 121 acres is located in the rural Northwest Connecticut town of Colebrook and the remaining 221 acres is located in the town of Sandisfield Massachusetts. The purchase of Bobriwka was initiated by Mr. Frank Andrusiw and Mr. Walter Luchkan; and by a group of Ukrainian investors in the early-1950’s for the purpose of a Ukrainian campground. It was purchased from the McClave sisters and at that time it was known as State Line Farms.
For many years since 1950’s, Bobriwka was used as a summer camp for the Ukrainian Scouting Organization “Plast”. Literally hundreds of Ukrainian Youth spent their summers at Bobriwka “roughing it” in tents and learning about their Ukrainian heritage. There are two substantial bodies of water located in Bobriwka. One is the Amazonka, which is the result of a natural beaver dam, hence the Ukrainian name “Bobriwka” or in translation Land of Beaver. The other body of water is a man-made swimming hole or “ozero” pond. It was constructed in the early 1960’s and is used for water recreation.

Bobriwka consists of several buildings. The mess hall or “koohnya” is the main building and contains the kitchen and large seating area. The most interesting part of the koohnya is the display of the various camp memorabilia from the 1960’s. The other buildings are the log cabin, used for seasonal rentals, the yellow house, which contains the camp headquarters and a candy shop during camps and a barracks shed. There also is a bath house and a chapel. Bobriwka offers many hiking trails and there are plans to expand on the trail system.
Currently Bobriwka is continuing to improve and renovate its camp ground facilty. Bobriwka is also available for rentals and it’s shareholders voted this April of 2004 to offer annual Associate Memberships.
